Rationale and Purpose of the Module:

To provide students with the ability to conduct high level research in both common and civil law systems.

Syllabus:

Primary and secondary source materials in common and civil law jurisdictions; electronic databases; quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Learning Outcomes:

Cognitive (Knowledge, Understanding, Application, Analysis, Evaluation, Synthesis)

On successful completion of this module, students will be able to: - Utilize research libraries in Anglo-American and continental jurisdictions. - Utilize on-line databases (Lexis, Westlaw, Firstlaw and Justis), the internet, and the European Documentation Centre. Use a research library Use on-line databases including Lexis, Westlaw and Justis Use the European documentation centre to research issues in European law Use an established system of citation and bibliographic software
